Man United 'make Michael Carrick replacement decision' ahead of crunch Aston Villa game

United will not appoint an interim manager if Carrick is sacked; any replacement will be permanent.

Manchester United has made a decision regarding Michael Carrick's future: should the club decide to sack him, they will not appoint an interim head coach. Instead, whoever replaces Carrick will be the next permanent manager.

Carrick remains under pressure following a dip in results, though a comeback victory over Roma provided some relief. He will manage United in this weekend's home match against Aston Villa, with his position uncertain beyond that fixture and the international break that follows.

United continue to be linked with managers including Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann. The club's approach differs from last season, when Darren Fletcher temporarily took charge following Ruben Amorim's departure.
