Manchester United 'plan revealed' amid new Michael Carrick sack decision

United will not appoint an interim manager if Carrick is sacked; Nagelsmann, Howe and Conte have been linked as potential replacements.

Manchester United has a contingency plan in place should Michael Carrick be dismissed as head coach, according to Sky Sports. The club will not hire another interim manager if they decide to make a change.

Carrick has faced intense pressure following a nine-game winless run, though he earned a reprieve after United's dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Roma on Tuesday. The club's hierarchy had planned to reassess his position during the November international break, giving him matches against Chelsea, Roma and Aston Villa to prove his worth. United currently sit 17th in the Premier League with just one win all season.

Julian Nagelsmann, Eddie Howe and Antonio Conte have all been linked with the role should Carrick depart. Unai Emery is unlikely to be considered as he is close to agreeing a new contract at Aston Villa.
